A media wall turns the TV wall into the part of the room you actually want to look at. In April we built our Sydney Design Media Wall for a client in Canton, Cardiff — a clean-lined centrepiece that anchors the whole living room.
The client wanted a single focal point that took the TV, the electric fire and somewhere to put things, without making the room feel cluttered. Our Sydney Layout does that with a painted centre panel flanked by matching alcoves, so the whole wall reads as one piece rather than three.
Both alcoves are lined in oak veneer and fitted with matching oak shelving, set over white cabinets at the base. The shelves keep the display space open and the cabinets take the clutter — consoles, cables and the rest of it — out of sight underneath.
We scribed the framing flush into the walls of this older Canton property, working around the out-of-square walls you get in houses of that age. The deep grey centre panel sets the warm oak off nicely, and the housing was cut to give the TV and the electric fire a millimetre-precise fit.
The finished wall gives them a recessed TV, a working fire and a full wall of shelving and storage, in the space two empty alcoves used to take up. We handled the job end to end, from the CAD design through to the final coat of paint.
