There's something truly special about taking a break from our busy lives to enjoy time with family, and this summer, we were lucky enough to escape to the stunning coastal town of Tenby in West Wales. Known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant atmosphere, Tenby offers a perfect combination of relaxation and adventure that our family thoroughly enjoyed.
Exploring Tenby
With its picturesque streets and colorful buildings, Tenby is a haven for those who appreciate charm and history. Whether you’re wandering along the quaint harbor, exploring the local shops, or indulging in ice cream from one of the many seaside vendors, there’s something for everyone. Our family made it a point to take long walks on the sandy shores, enjoying the sun and the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks.
Beach Days
One of the highlights of our trip was undoubtedly the days spent on Tenby’s beaches.
- Castle Beach: Ideal for families, this beach provides ample space for sandcastle building and beach games. The shallow waters are also great for little ones to splash around in while under adult supervision.
- North Beach: With stunning views of the ancient town and surrounding cliffs, this beach is a fantastic spot to relax or explore the tide pools.
- South Beach: Known for its expansive golden sands, South Beach is perfect for sunbathing and enjoying a picnic while taking in the breathtaking scenery.
After joining in on beach activities, we would head back to our quaint lodgings and share our favorite moments of the day over delicious dinners at local restaurants.
Family Activities
Besides beach outings, we also had the chance to engage in various family-friendly activities that Tenby offers:
- Boat Trips to Caldey Island: Taking a boat ride was a thrilling experience for our children. Caldey Island is not only scenic but also steeped in history. We enjoyed exploring the trails and visiting the Cistercian monastery.
- Tenby Castle: As history buffs, we loved wandering around the ruins of Tenby Castle. The panoramic views from the castle’s walls were unforgettable.
- Local Festivals: Being in Tenby during the summer allowed us to enjoy various local events. The lively atmosphere made our trip even more enjoyable with music, stalls, and a sense
